Shou Sugi Ban Table
- Shou Sugi Ban (or Yakisugi) is an ancient Japanese siding technique that preserves wood by charring it with fire. Traditionally, Yakusugi, (Cryptomeria japonica) commonly called Japanese Cedar, was used. The process involves charring the wood, cooling it, cleaning it with a brush and finishing it with natural oil. The charred wood resists fire, rot, and insects and can last up to 80 years.
- This table has been made with Vermont White Cedar with a Bass wood base and a Linseed oil finish.
