Lucy’s Chair
Made By Hand in Vermont
Named after Miranda and Charlie’s beloved Fox Terrier, Lucy’s Chair is a "small but mighty" upholstered piece that balances a diminutive footprint with outsized comfort. Handcrafted in our Bridgewater, Vermont workshop, this chair is a favorite for historic homes where space is at a premium, yet its soulful, hand-finished details make it a standout in any contemporary setting.
The chair’s design is defined by its signature hand-carved ornamentation and classic tailoring:
Features & Craftsmanship
-
Signature Hand-Carved Curls: The armrests are adorned with intricate hand-carved curls, a hallmark detail that juxtaposes sharp, traditional lines with the soft "puffiness" of the upholstery.
-
Architectural Frame: The chair features elegantly arched legs and arms, providing a graceful, fluid silhouette. The frame is constructed from solid American hardwood—typically cherry or walnut—using traditional mortise and tenon joinery.
-
Refined Upholstery Tailoring:
-
Double Welting: Used around the arms and across the front rail to provide a crisp, finished edge.
-
Single Welting: Accents the top back for a subtle, sophisticated touch.
-
Traditional Internal Construction: For lasting comfort, the seat is built with 8-way hand-tied steel coil springs, while the back utilizes durable rubber webbing. The upholstery layers include natural horsehair, cotton, and a 70% feather down blend cushion for a luxurious sit.
-
Hand-Rubbed Wood Finish: The exposed wooden legs and arms are hand-finished to a silky-smooth luster, highlighting the natural depth and warmth of the timber.
Dimensions: 30" W x 35" H x 29" D
