Spring Snow by Miranda Thomas
Looking out from the front window of our house, the day was truly like this. so bright and beautiful -- a blue sky day. The sun was warming the landscape before me and stirring with the promise of Spring.
This is my largest plein air oil painting so far. It was a challenge yet utterly exciting to try and match the colors before me.
The tips of the branches were turning their telltale spring red, with the rising and welling up of sap. The colors danced on the snow and shadows of the apple trees in the orchard and the hills in the distance.
I was delighted when Emory, one of our fine furniture makers, chose to make the beautiful fitted frame out of maple wood from our local area.
